Making Bread
On Monday, my Young Women's leader called to tell me about our activity on Tuesday where we were teaching the girls how to make Strawberry Freezer Jam. She then mentioned that she might bring some bread. I casually asked if it was homemade, and if anyone was making it. She said, "Oh, that would be a good idea," so I volunteered to do it. I have been meaning to get some more medium sized loaf pans because I have two large and one medium, and I really like how the medium loaf looks, so I stopped at the store on the way to Nic's for two bread pans. Then after a nice lunch, I headed home and got there around 3 pm. I got everything mixed together and kneaded, and looked at the time, then looked at how long it should take to rise, and realized that I didn't have near enough rising time, but then I got a brilliant idea. Just put the bowl outside, it is only about 90 degrees, so that is what I did (covered up, of course). Guess what, it rose beautifully in about one hour. Putting it outside shaved off thirty minutes. Then, I decided to rearrange my living room while it was rising, and Marie called, and when I went to check the bread, I was still on the phone, so she went on speaker phone and rushed around the kitchen like a chicken with it's head chopped off, trying to get the bread dough divided up into three loaves and set to rise again. I, of course, put it outside and then was able to chat with Marie until the boys needed my attention. Then, when the dough had raised again, into the oven it went, cooked for 30 minutes, and was able to "rest" for 5 minutes before I loaded the boys up and went to my presidency meeting before Young Women's. Oh yeah, and I finished vacuuming the living room while it was baking. Chad came and got the boys, I enjoyed a meeting without having a son hang onto me, and my counselor taught all the girls how to make the freezer jam. (There's a lot of sugar in that stuff. Boy is it yummy or what!!!) Well, they all tried the bread, and everyone loved it. They like the whole wheat/white flour mixture. Let's just say that after making it for a couple of years I am getting better at it. Marie told me I should have taken a picture of the loaves to post on my blog. Well, as you can tell, I didn't have any spare time to take the pictures, so maybe next time. You'll just all have to wait another week until I make more.

Beth! You need to ship us out some bread! I remember helping you make it, and it was soooo yummy! Unless, of course, Kate volunteers to make me some. Maybe when I get some free time (Yeah, right, what's that?) I'll try to make some up.... :)
