Another week gone by...

and I can't believe it is already November!!! I honestly meant to go do my civic duty and vote, but things got a little out of hand. Let me lay it all out for you.

Monday night we were finished eating dinner at the table, and Chad was feeding Matthew some cake for dessert, and Benjamin decided he wanted some also. Instead of just standing there, he decided to do a hiding game, where he would crouch down under the table, then jump up, and say "Here I am!!" Well, on one of the jumps up, he hit his head; pretty hard. After the tears and comforting, he was really ok, so I got both boys bathed, and in pajamas, and in bed. Now, fast forward to midnight to me waking up to Benjamin coughing. I go in to check on him, and he has just thrown up all over himself. It was the yucky kind, too. I stripped his bed, put the bedding in the laundry and Benjamin in the tub for bath number 2, then let him come to bed with us. Big mistake, because for the next 8 hours he would throw up about every two hours. Not a fun night. I did put a call in to the doctor the next morning thinking it might have something to do with him hitting his head, but did not notice any of the bizarre things that will happen to you if you do, in fact, have a head injury. So that was good, it was only the flu. (After the last episode around 8 am, he fell asleep until noon, and then acted very much like every other 3 year old closed in the house on a snow day...wild!!!) Needless to say, I was feeling pretty sick myself. So, in the interest of saving anyone else of possibly becoming sick, I did not go to the polls.

Then, last night, after President Barack Obama gave his acceptance speech, Matthew, who was sleeping in my arms in the rocking chair, started making those weird kind of noises that a mother just knows happens just before the vomit comes up. And sure enough, Matthew spewed all over me and the chair and the blanket. So, I get Matthew in the tub, not a pretty picture, and all cleaned off, and back in my arms rocking, and then he does it again. I am looking ahead to what this night will be like and not liking what I am seeing. Long story short, Matthew only threw up one more time, and it wasn't that bad and I was able to get much more sleep.

And now today, all is well. Except that I just had to carpet clean my living room floor and rocking chair because I just did not want to have that smell in my house. So that is it. My big story. The whole reason I did not do my civic duty as my dad would say. But I guess that is what happens when you have two sick children in the house. I don't even have any cool pictures to share...not that any of you would want that!!

boy Beth,
I don't envy those days. I think all my kids are now old enough to be able to run to the bathroom. I do remember a night in Virgina laying on the floor of my bathroom with a few sick kids, but I'd have to say the worst night I had was at Jill's house in Germany the night before we were returning to the states. All three kids got food poisoning. I was up the entire night with all three of them with stuff coming out of both ends. Jill got up about half way through the night to help out. The laundry pile was hugh! So I can certainly sympathize. Hang in there.

We had that a few weeks ago and I totally understand! After a couple times Addie learned to go to the bathroom though, so that helped!
So sorry to hear that though! Not fun at all!!
