My Big Seven Year Old

Benjamin had his 7th birthday earlier last month.  I felt like I should probably do SOME kind of friend party.  I haven’t really done any kind of “party” for the boys yet because I always felt like it was too much trouble.  And I like to keep things simple.  But, I had heard that some people do friend parties on the odd birthdays and family parties on the even birthdays, and I thought “Hey, that’s a great idea!”  Especially where both boys will be having their odd and even birthdays in the same year.  Winning!!!!  Well, I didn’t want to do the party at my house, because that would involve cleaning and decorating and having some fun things to do which right now in the month of March, there is not a lot of fun things to do outside because, well, you just never know what the weather will bring.  So, I looked at all of the exciting choices around town to choose from because we have so much to offer, and I decided to have a bowling party.  And you know what, it turned out pretty good.  Maybe the pizza they offered could have been just a little bit better, but overall, I think all the kids had fun.  Even though I was totally exhausted when it was over, I could go home to a clean house.  (But there was no relaxing because then I had to help run a volleyball tournament that night and the next day.)

I can’t believe that my little boy is a big 7 year old.  My how time flies.  Here’s some pictures of the party.

Chad helping Matthew wait for his ball to come out.  9. The boys checking out the scoreboard.

10. The cake and cupcakes.  11. Benjamin opening up presents. 12. The only picture I could snap with all of the attendees.  It was hard to slow down 11 boys + 1 girl!!!!

So, to sum it up, I am very glad we hosted a party.  I’m sure Benjamin will remember this for quite awhile.  Happy Birthday, Benjamin.  I love you.

Picture #11...what is Ben opening up? A princess crown? Who invited that kid?

So glad you decided to do a party! And it's okay that you didn't "do" everything. At least you did "something"! It only took you 7 years!

I can't believe Ben is 7!!! Holy moly! You guys should come out and visit...I miss your guts! The kids would have a blast!

I know, I know, it LOOKED like a princess crown in the picture, but it is actually a Pottery Wheel. And, has been a ton of fun. We did make a "candy dish" that was really cool, but then Matthew was a "little" rough with it on the wheel, so we have to make another one. I have to say, that gift brought our family together!!!!

As for coming out...just last night as we were in the car driving, I was thinking about how funny and cute Matthew is getting and how Preston kept saying that he was such a funny guy and how he would really think he is a funny guy now...I wish we lived closer...and I miss your guts too.
